The Artbeat “Creative Generators — regional service delivery initiative” is the result of a partnership between the RSDC, Arts Queensland and the Community Partnerships section of the Australia Council for the Arts.
The Creative Generators project will build creative capacity across North Queensland by delivering information, advice and professional development services. These services will be provided to local communities, arts and cultural development practitioners and organisations, local government and Arts Councils.
The program will support a broad range of roles across the arts and cultural sector including artists, performers, writers, cultural development workers, event/project/venue managers, museum and collection curators through:
RSDC commenced delivering the program in July 2010 with the initial focus being on the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac regional communities A service model has been piloted across these communities delivering outcomes to meet the identified goals including : establishing a GenC-NQ network, facilitating 'Creative Cultivars workshops on Creative Funding, Creative Marketing and Creative Partnerships, indentifying Strengths, Challenges, Opportunities and Threats in each of the communities visited and working with creatives and their organisations to develop strategic and business plans.
North Qld Region
RSDC will also introduce and implement the project, through progressive stages, across the wider state region of North Queensland in 2012. An advisory group has been established for the next cluster of regions which includes Burdekin, Townsville, Hinchinbrook, Charters Towers and Flinders.
The arts and culture sector in all North Queensland regional council areas will have access to information, resources and support through the website and GenC-NQ network throughout all phases of the project.More information
