Bowen and Collinsville Community Alliance

Greater Whitsunday Communities (GW Communities) have worked in the Collinsville and Bowen communities for many years, but particularly so since 2018, where our work has focused on fostering collaborative partnerships to maximize community resources, coordinated place-based responses for resilient, sustainable communities.

During 2021 GW Communities have assisted in the formation of a new collaborative partnership between two existing local network groups, the Bowen Interagency Network Group (established 1996) and Bowen Collinsville Health Action Group (established 2018), to form one new network- Bowen and Collinsville Community Alliance (BCCA)

The aim of BCCA is to achieve connections between community, health and other human services ensuring community collaboration to build and strengthen a robust service system to support individuals, families and communities.

BCCA also aims to be both innovative and strategic in their approach to achieving effective collaboration between all three levels of government, the business community, as well as the not-for-profit, public and private sectors in realising significant and substantial social change for human service delivery in the Bowen and Collinsville communities.

Throughout 2021 Greater Whitsunday Communities has facilitated community stakeholder meetings, round tables and a Community planning session to establish agreed priority areas of need, actions and Sub- Groups of BCCA. GW Communities is continuing to support BCCA to develop a business case & a submission for the PRIMM grant which if successful will fund a community co-designed model for an integrated health hub in the region.
