Greater Whitsunday Communities partnered with Isaac Regional Council to conduct a Community and Health Information Day in Nebo during Women’s Health Week 2022.

Greater Whitsunday Communities continues to support organisations with their organisational processes across the region through the support of funding received from the Greater Whitsunday Council of Mayors.

Greater Whitsunday Communities has recently been selected as a Group Coach for the Leading Australian Regional Communities (LARC) program, to support program participants from Charters Towers and Townsville achieve their program goals and projects.

Exploring “Inclusive Growth” through a regional WIM Community of Practice.

Greater Whitsunday Communities is partnering up with CSIA along with 5 other regional Queensland organisations to engage other community services to create tools that will further strengthen our organisational resilience and capacity based on the knowledge and experiences of these organisations.

During 2021 GW Communities have assisted in the formation of a new collaborative partnership between two existing local network groups, the Bowen Interagency Network Group (established 1996) and Bowen Collinsville Health Action Group (established 2018), to form one new network- Bowen and Collinsville Community Alliance (BCCA).

Greater Whitsunday Communities connected with Isaac Regional Council to conduct a Community Health Day in Carmila as part of their Seniors Week activities.

Following the work Greater Whitsunday Communities completed regarding the youth unmet needs in the Mackay and Isaac Regions, GWCommunities in partnership with Cr Amanda Camm facilitated discussion and input from stakeholders working with young people across the Proserpine, Cannonvale and Airlie Beach communities.

Greater Whitsunday Communities is committed to providing auspicing support to groups in our community to allow responsible participation of people in the decisions which affect their lives, through sharing our resources, information, skills and technology amongst people of the regional community.

GWC strives to move quickly in response to emerging needs of the community. The COVID-19 Taskforce ensured regional voice was maintained with Peak Bodies and allowed for connections between community members and services providers.
