Clermont CONNECT: Embedding Community Leadership

Clermont CONNECT is a not-for-profit collaborative community owned and driven organisation, committed to ensuring a resilient and sustainable Clermont district by securing future community services, opportunities, and initiatives through a stronger united voice for future generations. In order to ensure sustainability and longevity, GWCommunities has built in a number of Community Leadership activities to enrich individual and community capacity to continue on with this work into the future.

Greater Whitsunday Communities has been closely connected with the journey of Clermont CONNECT since 2019 and has walked alongside the committed Community working group, providing practical support, undertaking community engagement as well as securing funding from Glencore Coal Assets Australia to enable this as Stage 1 of our “Collaboration for Sustainable Communities”.

The Community Leadership development activities provided to the Clermont community have included, regular Check-in events, Board criteria & selection processes, Strategic & Business planning sessions, practical grant writing experience and personal skills development. GWCommunities will also be engaged to provide a Board Induction session in the coming months.

In February 2022 a key milestone from that Stage 1 work was reached with the establishment of Clermont CONNECT as a new legal entity registered with ASIC as a Company Limited by Guarantee and A Charitable Company Limited, which will facilitate community benefit through Social Enterprises

Clermont CONNECT is currently seeking seed funding to operationalize the new company & fund a part time coordinator role to build membership, sponsorship, seek community partnerships and develop Social Enterprise.
