Collaborating for Success

The focus was to build the capacity and sustainability of community managed organisations in the Whitsunday, Isaac and Mackay communities, and to help them learn to develop collaborative and sustainable partnerships.

GWC played a leadership role in identifying natural collaborative opportunities across the region and facilitate partnerships.

The project delivered a range of training sessions, mentoring, coaching and forums. The focus was to build the capacity and sustainability of community managed organisations in the Whitsunday, Isaac and Mackay communities, and to help them learn to develop collaborative and sustainable partnerships.

This project was funded by Australian Government's Building Better Regions Fund.

Project benefits:

  • Individual facilitation, mentoring, and support for organisations & encourage collaborative partnerships.

  • Inclusive of entire WIM region.

  • Establishment of key collaborations (listed below)

Project numbers to date:

  • Four were held in total: Moranbah, Clermont, Mackay and Whitsundays.

Establishment of four community-led collaborations including:

  • Youth Out Loud 1000, with partners Mackay Regional Council

  • Peer to Peer Business Continuity for the Housing Sector, with partners CSIA and relevant stakeholders

  • National Disability Industry Services (NDIS) community reference group, with NDIS service providers and Government

  • ClermontCONNECT, with partners Glencore and Greater Whitsunday Council of Mayors

The overall impact of this work is increased community capability, resilience and sustainability for NFP organisations which are the heart and soul of these regional communities.
