Building Capability | Recent work

Greater Whitsunday Communities are currently supporting a range of organisations with their strategic plans and policy review processes across the region and continue to do this work with the support of funding received from the Greater Whitsunday Council of Mayors.

In November, we partnered with QCOSS to deliver three pilot webinar sessions that were targeted at governance groups to build the capability of new members coming onto boards.

The webinars provided an overview of the role of the management committee or board, and some of the things new committee members need to be aware of when stepping into the world of community sector governance.

Covering:

  • Governance structures

  • Roles and Responsibilities

  • Constitutions and services agreements

The webinars targeted the roles of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer to provide clarity in how boards can work together as a group, and how each position and member can contribute to governance as an individual.

These webinars were well received with over 40 people in attendance per session and we look forward to delivering more of these in partnership with QCOSS in 2023.
